September is Library Card Sign-Up Month
This year is the 30th Anniversary of “Library Card Sign-Up Month” which was launched in 1987 and is observed throughout the nation. Library cards are free and allow cardholders free access to our library’s collection of books, materials, programming, and other services. Anyone who is age 8 and older may apply for a card. Children ages 8-17 must be accompanied by an adult to apply for and receive a library card. FUN FACT: 61% of Americans 16 and older say they have a library card for a public library. If you or your child are part of the 39% who do not have a library card, don’t miss out on the free opportunities the Douglass Public Library offers. Stop by and get a library card!
