Gemma is our new Kid Librarian! Stop by the library and check out her Book Picks display. Learn about her favorite books, where she likes to read, what she likes most about the Douglass Public Library, and much more. Gemma’s favorite books are the “Who Was?” and “Who Is?” book series. If your child is age 1st grade or older and would like to be a Kid Librarian, stop by the front desk and pick up an application.
Our featured author of the month is is Cormac McCarthy. Although McCarthy remained in obscurity until late in his career, he is considered a key figure in modern American fiction. His novels are known for their cryptic rendering of themes such as violence, death, and redemption. Keep in mind that some of McCarthy’s books, as well as many other books, are part of the Sunflower E-books collection and can be read using the free Libby app. The library staff can provide more information about using Libby. The kids display continues our Summer Reading adventure theme and invites kiddos to read about rafting and water adventures. The adult display features book titles relating to the upcoming Summer Olympic Games. Recently added adult non-fiction books are displayed on our “New and True” bookcase. This is the final week of Boulder’s summer adventure in Douglass! This is the last opportunity for PreK-5th grade Summer Reading participants to guess Boulder’s location and turn in the Boulder sheets at the library to earn summer reading bucks.
